As the thaw begins … sandbags available

Temperatures are climbing, the rains are back, and roads are clearing. But with the thaw, other challenges arise. Tree limbs may have become brittle or heavy with snow and ice. Potholes and other road damage appear. Continue to be diligent in watching for downed power lines and road conditions.

Following any significant snow and ice weather event, there is always concern of local flooding. If you live in an area of concern for flooding and would like to stay prepared, you can pick up sandbags at the Longview City Shop located at 1426 Alabama St, Building A.

Please be aware of the following:

• Availability is 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. If you have a need after hours, please call 360-578-0900 and staff will be dispatched.

• You must bag your own; bags and shovels are provided.

• Please check in at the office first.

• Must be a Longview resident.

Stay safe, be aware, and do not drive into water over roadways.
