File a Police Report
Welcome to the Longview Police Department (LPD) Citizens Online Police Reporting System. If this is an emergency, please call 911.
Recently, LPD made the tough decision to stop responding in person to some calls because the volume of calls was exceeding our ability to respond in a timely manner to higher priority calls for service.
The following incidents must be reported using the LPD Police Online Citizen Reporting System:
- Hit and run - unattended
- Identity theft
- Lost property
- Theft from vehicle
- Theft
- Vandalism of a vehicle
- Vandalism
- Animal Complaints
Citizens are encouraged to use the online police reporting system to expedite service and improve police operations. It is intended only for situations involving unattended vehicle without suspect information.
An applicable hit and run scenario could be your parked, unattended car was hit by an unknown driver/vehicle that didn't leave a note.
When to Contact 911
If you have sustained any type of injury please contact 911 and do not use the online police reporting form. If you have information about the suspect or have suspect’s license plate number, please contact 911 if this occurred in the last 10 minutes, or phone 360-577-3098 if more than 10 minutes have passed.
Motor Vehicle Collision Report
Additionally, the owner or driver of any vehicle involved in a collision in Washington State is required to complete a Motor Vehicle Collision Report if any person, including the driver, is injured or any involved vehicle sustains $1,000 or more in damages.
Request a Motor Vehicle Collision Report online. You may also request the report form by going to the Longview Police Station lobby (351 Hudson Street), Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

After Filing a Report
If you are the victim of identity theft or fraud please get and keep all papers, receipts, canceled checks, mail from companies, etc. related to this crime. We may contact you to get these items if needed, and you should keep copies for your records.
There are some groups you should get in touch with if you are the victim of identity theft or fraud. Some will ask for the report number you get at the end of this online police report process.

Helpful Tips for Protecting Your Identity
- Protect your social security number and only give it out when required by law.
- No bank, auction site, or other business should send you an email asking you to enter credit card information, passwords, Social Security numbers, or other personal information. Often these fake emails will contain links to pages that look real but are not.
- If you suspect you are being directed to a fake site please go to the actual home website of the company and inform them of what has happened.
- Avoid mail theft by obtaining a locked mailbox and dropping off outgoing mail at the local post office or postal mailbox.
- Do not give out your personal information or credit card number over the phone unless you initiated the call.
- Shred credit card offers and bank statements before you throw them away if you do not plan on using them.
The following are requirements to submit an online police report:
- The incident you wish to report is not an emergency.
- This incident occurred within the Longview City limits.
- There are no known suspects.
- The incident did not occur on a State Freeway.
- You must have a valid email address.

Upon completion of this report process you will:
- See the words "Your online police report has been submitted," showing that your police report is complete
- Be given a police report case number
- Be able to print a copy of the police report to keep for your records
All cases filed using the Citizens Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed. Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted. Once your report is approved, a Longview case number and copy of the report will be emailed to you. Please be aware that filing a false police report is a crime.
